  • Racing report

Jon Butt reported that the test event on April 14th on the Lands End time trial course went well, with no incidents, despite being shortened due to traffic lights on the course. He thanked the volunteers.

He said that numbers were building for the national event on the course on May 26th and also for the 2up Grand Prix at Ladock on May 12th.  He said that whilst entry to the national event was £30, if club members entered, they would subsequently be allowed two free entries to Penzance Wheelers events this season.

He explained that the 30th June would be a busy day in the race calendar this year with a road race at St Eval, South West Mountain Biking at Wheal Jane and also a 3up Time Trial scheduled at Ladock. He is also involved with organising a 180mile ultra endurance event on 22nd June.

He suggested that, if the club wanted to run time trials next year, they be club events as these would be more straightforward to organise as they are not dependent on the availability of an official time keeper. He suggested that there may be possibilities for new courses, such as a short course at Lands End or along disused sections of the A30, once the dual carriageway at Chiverton is completed.

Sarah Tregear suggested a double event time trial format, with one event between Penzance and St Just and the subsequent between St Just and Penzance, using both times then to work out final results.

  • Club rides

Jon reported that club rides were well attended. Introductory rides are still going ahead and the last was led by club member Stuart Hunter.

  • Kit Report

Jon noted that there is plenty of the club endura summer kit in stock if required by members.

  • Social report

Mike Tonkin has organised a curry evening for club members on 17th May which members need to RSVP if they would like to attend.

Jon Butt suggested another chip shop ride but non date was set.
