  2. Ordinary members present: Patrick Duffy, Martina Geraghty, Tim Jones, Darren Rundell, Terry Timms, Holly Tregear, Andy Williams

  3. Apologies: Jon Fazakerley, Tristan Harris, Stuart Hunter

  4. AGM: Jon Butt announced that the club AGM will take place next month. Beth asked for suggestions for a suitable venue, Sarah commented that Ludgvan Community Centre may be cheaper than previously due to new management. Date and venue to be decided.

  5. Cornish Cup : Jon explained that Ben Kent from IntoTri has taken on running the Cornish Cup time trial series. He went on to say that as of Dec 2024 - PZW was holding £199 from the Cornish Cup affiliation fees from the 12 clubs that took part in the series. He suggested that these funds are transferred to the new Cornish Cup organiser in order that awards can be given at the end of the 2026 season.

  6. Club Time Trials : Jon said that he is planning to book in 10 club time trials using the course between Tremethick Cross and St Just. These will be held on a Tuesday evening through the summer. He said that he is waiting on the SW CTT committee to confirm the dates are ok. These will all be entry on the day only events and Jon would like to suggest we keep the entry fees as low as we can - probably a fiver and if we have a profit from these that it goes to fundraising for the 2026 pedals4patients.

  7. Events: Jon gave the following report concerning recent club events. Firstly the reliability trials - the first of three events was this weekend past - we had about 40 riders take part - a lot of new faces joined the ride and I've had good feedback from lots of riders - the next event I will also run a 60km event.
Sarah Ruggins ride and talk saw about 60 people come to the talk - and about 50 do the ride - again response was really good and we are planning to get hold of Sarahs film to show at Newlyn, Special thanks to Sarah Tregear, Josef, Mark, Scott and my wife Susan how all helped out on the day. The club heavily subsidised the event - we can work out costs and income from the event,
Note - we've had really positive responses from non club members for these two special events and it seems these types of group rides are building a community of cyclists outside of the club - it does feel like the uptake from club members for these types of events and rides is not as high as I would have expected - I'm not sure what the reason is for this and whether this is something we need to address so we can encourage more club members to get involved if they want to - with the AGM planned for next month I think it's essential that we have more representation from the wider membership of the club so that we can make sure the club is offering things for its membership - not just things the few of us that are happy to organise want to do.
The Audax events on June 28th are now live on Audax UK - last year there were over 150 entrants (only 5 Wheelers)
I'm talking with Katy Roberts and the Cornish MIND charity about helping to organise a charity ride in memory of Katy's father and to raise awareness and money for the MIND charity - I'd like to run this as a Wheelers event so we can use the Cycling UK organisers liability - date and type of event will be confirmed soon. Mark suggested that this could be incorporated into the annual prostate ride.

  1. Club kit : Jon reported that more kit was required as there are no more medium men’s jerseys. He suggested seeing if Kalas could supply us with kit.

  2. A.O.B. David described some members finding difficulty rejoining via the new look BC website. Beth concurred but said she had found the website easier to navigate on a laptop. Matt Southam suggested pub club nights could restart and said that some members were already meeting on a Wednesday night at The Star Inn in Crowlas. David also suggested the club could look at communicating and promoting rides on an app called Spond and Andy said he had looked into the app too.
