Wild West Weekender - Off road cycling experience in aid of Mind Cornwall

Route details and links to Komoot files
We have now finalised the routes for the two days. Please double check you have the latest version (there are a couple of amendments and we've added in alerts and checkpoints - that should flash up on your GPS unit)

We have got support from Komoot so all the routes can be downloaded from their website

Day 1
https://www.komoot.com/tour/3320621537
Day 2
https://www.komoot.com/tour/3320622027

You will be able to download the GPX files to your device. (if you need help please email me).

The routes are a mix of lanes and trails - if at any point you are struggling we are here to help you and have set up an emergency Whatsapp chat group that you should have been invited to join, This group chat will be monitored all the time during the ride.

It would be nice if riders can stick together as much as possible to share the experience but appreciate smaller groups may form during the event. When you reach the main checkpoint at lunchtime we can use this opportunity to regroup.

We are planning to have mechaical support at a couple of different locations on each day - these locations have been chosen as they are near off road sections which are more likely to be where you could have issues. We will have a few support riders with us as well.

This info is handy for the routes!

GPS Trackers
We will hand out on Saturday morning the GPS trackers- you will each be assigned your own tracker with an assigned number. The trackers are supplied in a plastic bag, they should be left in the bag and can be easily turned on without removing them from the bag. The GPS trackers should be placed in your pocket during the ride - this will assist us in locating you or seeing your progress during the event.

The trackers are linked to the Geotracks event website - here are the links that you can share with friends if you want to.

Day 1 - tracker page

Day 2 - tracker page

You can select riders from the dropdown menu by name and your tracker number.

Join us for a two-day cycling adventure on some of the finest trails and roads the South West has to offer. Getting in the sea is all part of the fun.

Let's squeeze out the last of the summer by spending the first weekend in October outdoors in nature, with good people, seeing new sights and sounds and being away from our screens.

Whether this is your longest ride or you're an old hand at multi-day cycles, this will be an adventure. The purpose isn't to race or to smash the kilometres. The purpose is to talk to people, take a closer look at your surroundings, appreciate nature and, in turn, look after our hearts and heads.

If you're worried you don't have the right kit, or you're not sure how to carry food and a sleep system, don't be. Dinner, bed and breakfast are all included at Penzance Youth Hostel.
